Heart Disease Support Group

Hello! My name is Randy. I live in Omaha, Nebraska. I'm 53 years old. The year now is 2003.

I survived a heart attack (at age 46) in 1996, and all the "fun" things that came with it. One thing I so desperately could have used back then … and sometimes even now … would be someone to talk to; someone that has been there; someone that knows what it feels like; someone that understands. Sure, I had (have) my doctors, cardiologists, rehab personnel, family and friends, but I wanted a little bit more of a personal relationship where I could talk openly and freely with someone (individual or group) about how I was (sometimes) really feeling.

To that end, I have been working for the last year compiling ideas and information that I plan to use on this web site, to offer others a place to visit .. to read .. to learn .. and to speak openly and freely.

Let's understand first and foremost … I am NOT a professional. I do not and will not suggest any medical treatments, medicines or make any diagnosis. My only purpose is to offer a support group where you can feel free to express your feelings, opinions and possibly learn some things about heart disease.

I encourage and welcome your emails, comments & suggestions. There is a link on my site called "Comments." Unless you specifically request that I not publish your comments & questions (and my possible responses to them), I will post them on that link, to share with others. After all, that's how we learn …by experiencing what others have felt, learned and are willing to share. (I reserve the right to exclude any comments I deem inappropriate or offensive).
