Post Offices throughout the United States are replacing their combination lockbox mail doors with new aluminum key-operated doors. These old doors are then sold at the discretion of the Postmaster. |

The doors are often purchased by scrap metal dealers. The doors are then melted down and sold as scrap, or they are made into different objects for resale. |

We collect the oldest and most unusual doors to put on our oak banks. This is our way of preserving and displaying the doors, and a very important part of our country's heritage. |
