A gifted artist was commissioned by a church to design a stained glass window
based on these words of a hymn,

"Around the throne of God in heaven Thousands of children stand."

Centering on the theme of the children, she quickly got absorbed in her work
and soon was ready to present it to the church committee. Late the night before
the committee was to view his work, she heard a noise in her studio and went
to investigate. There she met a stranger with brush and palette in hand, working
on her painting. "Stop" the artist cried, "You'll ruin my painting!"

"I think it is already ruined" responded the stranger. "Who told you that in
heaven there are only children whose faces are white? I am making some of their
faces yellow, some brown, some black and some red, for they are all there, for all
have answered my call.
"

"Your call?" inquired the artist, "Who are you?"

"I am the one who said long ago, ' Let the little children come to me, and
do not stop them, for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs.
'"

And with these words the stranger disappeared.

The next morning upon waking, the artist rushed to her studio to check on her painting.
It was just as she had left it the day before. It had all been a dream.
Still, without a moment's hesitation, she seized her palette and brushes and began
painting the children's faces in the colors of the world's people. When later that day
the committee came to preview the painting, they exclaimed in joy,

""Why! Look through His window. It's God's family at home."
